WHO WE ARE
Here at Woodberry Crossing, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is to get a fresh perspective. Since our founding in 1998, we have been determined to make an impact on children, youth and adults. The core of our efforts is to bring our team’s fresh ideas and passion to the range of activities and programs. Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our belief that nature enriches our lives, kids learn by doing and working together is best.

Why we do what we do
Woodberry Crossing gives urban children, youth and families the opportunity to broaden their vision and understanding of life thorough meeting and interacting with a variety of people, animals and the natural world. Urban children often have few places to run and play. Parents are often forced to keep children inside and deny them opportunities to experience the natural world around them. During the summer, the problem of locating safe outlets that entertain and enrich children’s lives becomes even more difficult. The camp at Woodberry Crossing offers an environment that provides campers a chance to imagine “outside the neighborhood.”
CREATURES WITH TEACHERS
Woodberry staff takes a live animal, books and related craft activity to classrooms.
NURTURING WITH NATURE
Groups come to the farm for a day, including school groups, church groups, and community centers. Activities include stream walk (Spring & Fall), hiking, frog pond, feeding & petting the resident farm animals, picnic lunches, nature activities and crafts.
Each summer we connect with community centers and churches to bring children 6-12 years old to the farm. In 7-weeks of summer camp more than 250 school aged children come to Woodberry Crossing a 100 acre farm for a week of day camp, in groups of 25-40 children. Some will come for the first time and some have been here many times. Each comes with the expectation of swimming in the pool, riding bikes, enjoying the stream and joining friends to sing, discuss and learn together.
